I'm still doing the gemstones. I think there is an unlimited supply. One mine dries up and another one pops up, or, rather down. The lure of these bizarre growths present a never ending challenge. Actual jewellery illustrators mostly use gouache on grey paper when working up visuals of their designs. Anyhow, mine are more like portraits. Using watercolour, I try to give these flat renditions some life, wit, and expression; to say what they are about, and so converse with their friends and admirers.
